How Am I Protected?

At Schofield Removals, we take the safety and security of your belongings seriously. That’s why we include Standard Liability as part of every removals and storage service — offering contractual protection without the need for separate insurance policies.

What Is Standard Liability?

Standard Liability means we accept responsibility for your goods while they are in our care, subject to the terms of our contract. This protection is automatically included in your quote — provided you declare the full value of the items being moved or stored.

  • Removals: Protected up to a maximum declared value of £25,000
  • Storage: Protected up to £5,000 per container (250 cu ft)

Need a Higher Value Protected?

If your goods are worth more than the standard protection limits, you can increase the level of liability for an additional charge. These charges are added to your quotation and are subject to VAT.

Removals – Extended Liability Options

  • £25,001 – £35,000: £75.00 + VAT
  • £35,001 – £40,000: £100.00 + VAT
  • £40,001 – £45,000: £125.00 + VAT
  • £45,001 – £50,000: £150.00 + VAT
  • £50,001 – £60,000: £200.00 + VAT

Storage – Weekly Charges Per Container

  • £5,001 – £10,000: £5.00 + VAT
  • £10,001 – £15,000: £10.00 + VAT
  • £15,001 – £20,000: £15.00 + VAT

If you’d like to discuss a higher value or have specific items of significant worth, please let us know when requesting your quotation.

How Does It Work?

  1. Declare the Value – You tell us the total value of your goods before your move or storage begins.
  2. Confirm Acceptance – We ask for written confirmation via a signed form or email.
  3. We Provide Cover – Once confirmed, your goods are protected under Standard Liability up to the value declared.

Important: If you don’t declare a value, our Limited Liability terms will apply, limiting our responsibility to £40 per item and only in cases of negligence or breach of contract.

Frequently Asked Questions

We understand that moving or storing your belongings can come with plenty of questions — especially when it comes to protection and liability.
